Kickin’ It with Kiz: Has Nikola Jokic surpassed John Elway as the GOAT of Denver sports?

Nuggets center Nikola Jokic already is the best athlete to ever wear a Denver uniform. Not as influential as John Elway has been in Colorado, but Joker is a two-time MVP, as well as MVP of the NBA Finals when the Nuggets won their first championship. Jokic is the best player in the NBA. Elway was never on that level.Dan, Chandler, Ariz.Kiz: Elway will forever be our beloved Duke of Denver. But Jokic is the king of the basketball universe. In terms of pure athletic achievement? Advantage, Joker.Elway is untouchable as the GOAT in Colorado. No doubt Jokic will forever be loved as a legend in Denver. He will always be one of the greatest, but Elway is Denver. He made this city and this state his life. Jokic really doesn’t seem to want to have involvement with Colorado, only Serbia.B.V., community-mindedKiz: So if Joker sold you steaks and cars, you’d give him more credit for scoring baskets? Why does everyone keep talking about Elway and his engagement with the city? He had six points in UConn’s opening 12-0 run, which forced the Skyhawks into a zone.It didn’t help. Newton hit his first three 3-point attempts and had 14 points by halftime. UConn led 52-30 at the break. The Huskies opened the second half with a 26-4 run in just over seven minutes and cruised from ...Harry Kane scores again as Bayern moves top of Bundesliga. BERLIN (AP) — Harry Kane scored another brace Saturday but Bayern Munich had to endure a scare before moving top of the Bundesliga with a 4-2 win over promoted Heidenheim.Kane, who scored twice in the Champions League on Wednesday and already had a record-equaling 15 goals in his first 10 German league games, needed just 14 minutes against Heidenheim to grab his 16th, then followed up with his 17th before halftime.“I had a couple in the second half I probably should have finished,” Kane said. “The two I scored were probably harder than the two I missed. But that’s football sometimes, that’s the way it goes. I’m just enjoying playing with this team.”Kane scored with his first real contribution to the game, taking Leroy Sané’s pass amid several defenders with his back to goal, then turning to unleash a shot inside the right post with his right boot. The England captain scored his second before the break with a header to Sané’s corner. But Kane missed two good chances in the second half ...Butterfield Bermuda Championship Scores

Over the past week, state agencies and small businesses across Maryland lit up with green lights to show their support for Maryland’s veterans as part of Operation Green Light, a national campaign to recognize veterans and provide educational opportunities highlighting the needs and well-being of those who served in the U.S. military.Hospitals and health care facilities across the state are also participating in the lighting campaign to raise awareness for the medical and mental health needs of veterans, which can be different from the general population.“Veterans, as a result of their serving our nation, have been exposed to different stressors than our civilian population,” according to Dr. David Marcozzi, chief clinical officer for the University of Maryland Medical Center.Operation Green Light runs from Nov. 6 through Nov. 12, and the University of Maryland Medical System health care facilities are participating this week, as well as Maryland’s VA Marylan...Arrestan a cuatro sospechosos del secuestro del papá del futbolista Luis Díaz

GROTON — In Saturday’s game at Independent School League rival Lawrence Academy, BB&N showed from the very outset that the Knights had a little something extra.Bo MacCormack returned the opening kick for a touchdown, and BB&N dominated every facet in a 52-21 win over the host Spartans.BB&N improved to 6-2 and looks like a lock to make a NEPSAC bowl. Lawrence fell to 6-2, but a NEPSAC bowl is not out of the question for the Spartans, either. That kick return set the tone. MacCormack bobbled it a little, then picked it up, broke a few tackles, and rumbled for a 100-yard touchdown. BB&N led 42-14 at halftime, and had a complete performance.“To be honest with you, I just dropped the ball at first,” MacCormack said. “I was kind of like, whatever. I picked it up. I’ve got to make something happen. I made a cut on one kid, then I made a stiff arm on another kid. There was some room out on the LA sideline. Just booked it out there, and there was ...Div. 2 cross country: Marblehead sophomore runs down title

WRENTHAM — Marri O’Connell proved at Saturday’s Div. 2 State cross country Championships that she has mastered the Wrentham Developmental Center’s 5K layout.Racing in chilly conditions on the rolling, sun-splashed course, the Marblehead sophomore built a 50-yard lead with a 5:33 opening mile and was never challenged. She was alone at 2-miles (11:38) and cruised home for an easy 18-minute, 11-second win in the Div. 2A event. The race did lack the early drama of her race at the Kelley Invitational where she lost a shoe, but put it on quickly and ran away from the field for the win.Her shoes were double-knotted Saturday as she bolted into the lead 100 yards in. “I felt a little off,” O’Connell said. “I wanted to get out fast because of the narrow opening.”Walpole’s Ila Zollo also broke 19-minutes with her 18:52.8 second-place finish. Minnechaug’s Kay Dickinson copped the bronze medal in 19:23.7. Adeline Lawlor’s 10th-pla...Massachusetts Senate to press for prescription drug cost relief

Patients would pay no more than $25 for certain name-brand medications to treat some chronic illnesses and face no costs whatsoever for similar generic options under the latest prescription drug legislation set to emerge in the Senate.Senate Democrats plan to release a revived version of a drug pricing reform bill they have approved in two straight lawmaking sessions without securing passage in the House, the News Service has learned. This time around, the legislation will feature new language aimed at reducing or eliminating cost burdens for Bay Staters with conditions like heart disease, asthma and diabetes, a push Senate President Karen Spilka forecast when she signaled plans to bring the bill to the floor before Thanksgiving.Sen. Cindy Friedman, the architect of the bill, said the latest addition would cap out-of-pocket costs for some widely used medications at $25 for name-brand versions and at $0 for generic alternatives.“We don’t know the specific drug because we...Latest news
