DENVER (KDVR) — Denver Police are searching for the driver and vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in LoDo.According to the Denver Police Department, the hit-and-run happened on Sept. 17 at 1:40 a.m. in the 1900 block of Blake Street. The is a popular stretch of road that is home to several bars that would be preparing to close for the night at 2 a.m.Police said an unknown driver was stopped in that block, but when a pedestrian approached the car, the driver suddenly took off and hit the pedestrian. DENVER (KDVR) — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man on charges of human trafficking.Yuewu Zhao, 53, was arrested and charged with human trafficking for involuntary servitude for his alleged role in a case involving an employee at a massage parlor.According to the sheriff's office, deputies received a report of alleged sexual acts being performed at a massage parlor in the 16000 block of S. Golden Road. The tipster told deputies that they believed a masseuse at the parlor may be a victim of human trafficking. DENVER (KDVR) — A man was killed in an early morning shooting in the City Park West neighborhood.Just before 2 a.m. Thursday, the Denver Police Department tweeted about a shooting investigation in the 1100 block of East 16th Avenue.At the time, officers said two victims were found and taken to a local hospital with an unknown extent of injuries. 2 children killed, 7 injured in Aurora house fire A few hours later, DPD confirmed that one of the victims, an adult male, was pronounced dead.The case is now being investigated as a homicide and police are working to develop suspect information. Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s 1200 building, where 17 people were killed in a mass shooting in 2018, is slated for demolition in the summer of 2024, following the conclusion of the 2023/24 school year, school officials said. After an investigation into a suspect accused of trafficking drugs, Davie police discovered an illegal puppy mill at the suspect’s mobile home. Sean Christopher Brodnax, 30, was arrested on Sept. 13. He is being charged with several drug related charges in addition to several animal cruelty charges, which include unlawful confinement and practicing veterinary medicine without a license.According to police, on the day of his arrest, they executed a search warrant at Brodnax’s home, located at 409 SW 132nd Ave. Once inside the home, detectives found large amounts of fentanyl, cocaine and cannabis that were intended to be trafficked. Also discovered at Brodnax’s home, were 26 neglected or abused dogs that were kept in cages, as well as several litters of puppies throughout the mobile home. In their cages, the dogs were covered in feces and other fluids. The dogs, police said, were to be used for breeding purposes. Brodnax currently remains in jail.Fantasy Fixer: Week 3

A day after the federal government moved to make nearly half a million Venezuelan nationals temporarily eligible to reside and work in the United States, the Healey administration said “more needs to be done” to ease pressure on the Massachusetts emergency shelter system.The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced Wednesday that it will extend and redesignate Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, for many Venezuelan migrants because of unsafe conditions in the South American nation.About 472,000 Venezuelan nationals will newly become eligible for TPS, the department estimated, which will temporarily protect them from removal and provide them with employment authorization.
